In this section, we will be talking about the impacts of climate change on our overall health. The following are several health-concerns made even more dangerous due to exposure to the negative effects of global warming.

  • Heatstroke
  • Respiratory diseases
  • Skin cancer

Heatstroke can affect virtually almost anyone. Excessive exposure to heat and sunlight can cause damaging and lasting effects. Even younger people can succumb to this and not just adults in their 40s. Additionally, respiratory diseases like asthma are mostly aggravated by the intensive heat brought about by global warming.

One of the most recent heatwaves just occurred was the European heatwave that occurred in June-July 2019 which killed hundreds of people and livestock. Studies showed that the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a dangerous type of carcinogen. This accounts for 95% of the radiation that reaches the Earth. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), its negative effects may vary depending on the exposure time and amount of radiation emitted.

Hydration and applying sunblock is advisable for people who liked to spend a large amount of time under the sub. Other than that, limiting our sun exposure is also another way of preventing heat-related injuries and developing chronic respiratory diseases.
