Congratulations Canada: Ban on BPA in Baby Bottles

On October 17, the federal government announced a ban on the importation, sale and advertisement of baby bottles containing bisphenol A (BPA). A huge step forward, as Canada becomes the first national jurisdiction to take regulatory action against BPA. The announcement was posted online in the Canada Gazette, the official newspaper of the Government of Canada.

Upgrading consumer protection laws in Canada

This past week the Canadian government announced a plan to strengthen consumer protection laws in this country. The Conservatives' new legislative package would amend both the Food and Drugs Act and the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act to give more power to the government on recalls and industry fines.
