New BPA Studies Shed More Light on Baby Exposure

Two studies published this week in Environmental Health News are giving scientists greater insight into the levels of bisphenol A (BPA) exposure in newborns, as well as possible sources and health impacts resulting from the controversial chemical. Both papers conclude that infants, especially those that are premature or under the age of two, are more vulnerable to the effects of BPA exposure.

BPA, Dental Sealants and You

When you go to your dentist for a filling, a syrupy substance will be inserted into the crevices of your molars. This coating will harden and will prevent bacteria from decaying your teeth. There is evidence that dental sealants provide a great deal of protection against cavities, along with regular brushing and good dental hygiene.

Breast cancer linked to chemical exposures

The fifth edition of the State of the Evidencereport from the Breast Cancer Fund was just released. It finds that exposure over time to synthetic chemicals, such as hormone and endocrine-disruptors, found in plastics, cosmetics, cleaning products, food, and other consumer products, increase the risk of breast cancer. Other sources and factors, such as occupational exposures to hazardous chemicals are also identified as playing a role in breast cancer.
