Bottled Water: what a waste!

When people ask me, “is my bottled water container safe?” as they point at their little Aquafina plastic bottle I tell them that it is made of PETE (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic and does not leach bisphenol A. My response elicits a sigh of relief from the person inquiring and they walk away pouring more water down their throats. While I feel good to assuage fear of bisphenol A exposure and raise awareness about the kind of plastic that can leach a hormone disruptor, I can’t help but notice that something else is going missing.
