BPA Detected in Baby Food, Water

Health Canada testing has found bisphenol A (BPA) in jarred baby food with metal lids and some polycarbonate bottles of drinking water. The compound was detected in 84% of samples.

Seven top baby formula companies are feeling the heat from lawmakers in the United States. Two House Democrats are investigating whether baby formula makers like Nestle USA, Abbott Laboratories, and Wyeth use bisphenol A in the lining of their cans and bottles.



Make industry accountable for its chemicals

  • Shift the burden of proof onto industry to prove the safety of its chemicals before introduction or continued use in the market.
  • Mandate industry to adopt a safe substitution policy to replace toxic substances with safer or non-toxic substances.
