U.S. next to ban BPA?

Canada has declared it a toxin and has banned it in baby bottles, stores have phased it out of their products, and an advisory panel has accused the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of ignoring important studies linking it to significant health risks. Now, political representatives are speaking out towards the effective ban of bisphenol A (BPA) in the United States.

Bottled Water: what a waste!

When people ask me, “is my bottled water container safe?” as they point at their little Aquafina plastic bottle I tell them that it is made of PETE (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic and does not leach bisphenol A. My response elicits a sigh of relief from the person inquiring and they walk away pouring more water down their throats. While I feel good to assuage fear of bisphenol A exposure and raise awareness about the kind of plastic that can leach a hormone disruptor, I can’t help but notice that something else is going missing.
