Get Tested
Since releasing our studies on pollution in Canadians, we’ve heard from lots of people who want to be tested. Environmental Defence is not currently testing volunteers. If you’d like to be tested, speak with your doctor. Several labs in Canada test for toxic chemicals. Here’s a list of laboratories we’ve used for our studies:
- The Centre de toxicologie at the Institut national de santé publique du Québec
- AXYS Analytical Services, in B.C.
- AccuChem Laboratories in Texas.
- Frederick vom Saal’s lab in Missouri
Contact the laboratories directly for information on getting tested. Testing is Expensive! Please keep in mind that this type of testing can be expensive. To test the families in our Toxic Nation studies, it cost more than $2,000 per person for 68 chemicals. Also, while the tests can tell you what chemicals are in your body, the results can’t tell you how the chemicals got there or how your health may be affected. You don’t need to be tested to know that toxic chemicals are harmful to Canadians’ health. Just check out the toxic chemical profiles of the Toxic Nation volunteers. And, you don’t need to get tested before you take action! You can take steps today to detoxify your life. Start with 10 easy tips.
